Why not replace your halogen GU10 lamps with led replacements. This worked well for me, reducing the wattage used from 6 x 50watts to 6 x 4watts, with 78 led lamps that I bought from Ebay.

Energy Saving

GU10 Halogen lamps. When I bought my house in Bristol, my first job was to switch all the lamps to energy savers. The only challenge I had was finding a good alternative for the GU10 Halogen lamps in my bathroom and big bedroom. All I could find in the major DIY shops were an alternative led lamp that had a 1.2watt output, that would only suit backlighting shelves.

I did a lot of research on the internet and Ebay, and eventually some that had 78 led's giving 4 watts output, and giving a really viable alternative to halogen lamps. I find these light up my bathroom and bedroom very satisfactorily. On these 6 lamps, my energy consuption has gone down from 300 watts to 24 watts. If anybody would like the link to Ebayer I bought them from, send me a message. Further savings available for those concerned with their rising energy bills.
